It all started when Connor (singer) put together Girls on the Beach as an outlet for his Beach Boys and 60′s girl groups obsessions. Lowen (guitar) carried over from the psych-rock band they had together before Girls, and Tristan a mutual friend joined up on bass. Ben (drums) was brought in through Lowen.
They got together specifically for a local Orlando gig, learning some surfy garage songs Connor had written, they played a short set for the first time as Girls On The Beach on New Year’s 2012.
Since then, the band has been making big moves, playing local shows constantly, traveling to Tampa and St. Augustine. They opened for The Black Lips in March 2012 at The Social, and for Hunx & His Punx, as well.
After taking a little break to get some recording done, Girls On The Beach has amassed enough material for their first official release . “Untitled (The Girl Tape)” is available for purchase on Bandcamp.
We’re basically a few guys in a modern version of a 60′s girls group. A little Ramones, a little Beach Boys, a little Ronettes, a lot of noise, a lot of reverb and a lot of catchiness.-Connor
