As all of you lovely visitors of the site know by know (even those of you who are new to it will figure it out) this section of the site is by far one of our favorites. There are many reasons why it’s one of our favorites; the main one would have to be that we really enjoy visual stimulation and we think that the artist of the month section provides just that.
Last month we had the pleasure of streaming live from Yo Space (a wonderful space in Little Haiti dedicated to art, owned by our good friend Yuval Ofir) and we got to meet JNGL a really talented artist that left us stunned with the work he has done throughout his artistic life. We really enjoy every artist that we feature, and we feel that we should share their artistic world with you. We hope you enjoy!
We asked JNGL for a brief description of himself in order for you the reader and appreciator to get to know him:
“Hello people of the internet. My name is JNGL (juhn-guhl) I’m a nomadic artist. I am from a small country in Central America called Costa Rica. I love art and music. I could not imagine a world without it. I have been drawing and painting since I was a child. Since then, I was very inspired by cartoons,video games and of course,music! I suppose that has not changed much. Apparently it was not just a phase. I continue to have an appreciation of these things which are a great influence to my style. I went on to become a tattoo artist in my teens, and I also discovered graffiti. These things also play a part in my art. I paint because I must, its a part of my life.”
“My work is about life,fun,pain,death, and the journey itself. The things we can find joy in and share. If my work ’causes someone to smile, or wonder,or a small moment of enjoyment, I am content. I want people to remember to live their lives and find enjoyment and happiness in the small things. I would hope to one day see all men living in peace and in balance with nature.”
